Prices of flour, chicken, vegetables surge after hike in fuel rates
Prices of flour, live chicken/meat, vegetables and other food items have increased sharply after rise in fuel prices. A weekly market survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday revealed that a 20-kg flour bag has increased at Rs3000 and Rs2900 in the wholesale and retail market which was selling at Rs2700 and Rs2500 respectively in the previous week. Price of 80-kg sac has gone up at Rs13000 in the wholesale market. The survey noted price of live chicken also increased in the retail market as it is being sold at Rs355-360 per kilogramme against the price of Rs335 per kilogramme in the previous week, showing an increase from Rs20 to Rs25 per kilo in the retail market.
