Bodies not holding meetings regularly: ‘Station change requests’ piling up in FBR

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had issued stern instructions that the use of extraneous influence by officers/officials for “choice posting” constitutes “misconduct” for disciplinary proceedings. At the same time, the FBR recognises the genuine needs of officers/officials for “station change requests” in case of hardship. Instructions further stated that such a request, along with supporting documentary evidence, be emailed to the Administration Wing of the FBR for the consideration of the committees constituted for this purpose. Subsequently, the FBR repeated these instructions on 19th November 2025 due to the importance of the subject matter. However, it is learnt that such requests are piling up in the FBR, and the committees are not holding their meetings regularly. Father of a female official posted at the Corporate Tax Office (CTO), Karachi, away from parents at Lahore and seeking a station change on multiple hardship bases, apprised that the health and well-being of her daughter is deteriorating and it is a genuine hardship case supported with documentary evidence.
